Description
A distillery bottling of Tamnavulin, aged 24 year old and bottled at 45%. Tamnavulin, built in 1966 at Tomnavoulin, deep in Glen Livet, is the mill on the hill. It is one of the few distilleries that sits right on the River Livet.
Distilled in copper stills fitted with purifiers, for a light spirit, giving the soft, grassy spirit at its heart. It was matured in refill ex-Bourbon oak, lending honey and vanilla. At this age it is rounded and full, the fruit folded into a honeyed body. Years in oak round the spirit, the fruit and honey deepening with age. The name is Gaelic for mill on the hill, a nod to the old mill on its grounds. Tamnavulin sits in Glen Livet, close to Glenlivet, Braeval and Tomintoul. The light, clean make takes a cask finish particularly well. The site is home to one of Scotland's largest bat colonies. Built in the 1960s boom, its industrial buildings sit amid picturesque country.
Bottled at 45%, it is rounded. The refill oak lending honey and vanilla, with pear, hay and a floral lift. The texture is light and smooth, the fruit lifted by honey. The finish is rounded, honeyed and soft. This is the mill on the hill malt of Glen Livet.
