This official Springbank single malt matured to 31 year old from 1966, drawn from cask 1966 476 and bottled at 52%. In Mitchell family hands since 1828, Springbank is the most traditional distillery in Scotch, malting all its own barley. Bottles are released in small batches, often through ballots to meet the demand.

The spirit was given Springbank's unusual two and a half times distillation, the vapour cooled in worm tubs. An ex-Bourbon barrel shaped it, gentle American oak beneath the spirit. Decades leave it waxy and oxidative, candied fruit and brine with great depth. Worm tub condensing and an oil fired wash still build the rich, oily texture the distillery is known for. The old town of Campbeltown once rivalled Speyside as Scotland's whisky heart. Quality and tradition, not volume, have always been the watchwords here. The spirit is filled to cask and matured within the distillery walls.

At cask strength 52% it is muscular. Creamy vanilla and oak sweetness from the cask underpins oily orchard fruit, salt and a wisp of peat. Soft fruit and brine sit behind the cask sweetness. Sea salt and fruit draw out the close. This is a revered Campbeltown single malt.
