A distillery bottling of Springbank matured to 18 year old and bottled at 46%. A release of 7200 bottles. In Mitchell family hands since 1828, Springbank is one of only three distilleries left in Campbeltown. Little has changed in the way the spirit is made for the best part of a century.

The spirit was drawn off after two and a half distillations of gently peated malt, and worm tub cooled in the old way. Maturation in a sherry cask laid dried fruit over the maritime malt. Around the mid teens the malt gains depth while keeping its oily salt. The oily, robust make carries cask flavour while holding its own character. The spirit is filled to cask and matured within the distillery walls. Few distilleries keep so much of the old craft alive under one roof. Campbeltown was once the whisky capital of the world, with more than thirty distilleries at its peak. Today just three distilleries survive in the old Kintyre whisky town.

Bottled at 46%, it is rounded. Raisin, fig and a vanilla sweetness meets a salty, waxy depth with a whisper of peat. The mouthfeel is oily, the fruit carried on a salty body. Salt and oily fruit see out a long finish. This is the most traditional malt in Scotch.
