Springbank 12 Years Old

This official Springbank single malt, a 12 year old release and bottled at 43%. Springbank, founded in 1828 in Campbeltown, is campbeltown's most revered surviving distillery. Bottles are released in small batches, often through ballots to meet the demand.

This was distilled the Springbank way, two and a half times from floor malted barley, the vapour cooled in worm tubs. Ex-Bourbon casks held the spirit, soft oak that lets the make lead. By this age the maritime weight rounds into a richer, fuller malt. Everything is done on site, the spirit going from still to cask to bottle in Campbeltown. The old town of Campbeltown once rivalled Speyside as Scotland's whisky heart. Quality and tradition, not volume, have always been the watchwords here. The spirit is filled to cask and matured within the distillery walls. Few distilleries keep so much of the old craft alive under one roof.

At 43% it is smooth and oily. An oily, maritime character with light peat are layered with vanilla, honey and coconut. Soft fruit and brine sit behind the cask sweetness. The close is rich, fruit over a saline depth. This is a revered Campbeltown single malt.
