An official Springbank single malt, a 10 year old Campbeltown malt from 2010 and bottled at 55.6%. 8500 bottles in all. Springbank is a Campbeltown distillery distilling since 1828, one of only three distilleries left in Campbeltown. Little has changed in the way the spirit is made for the best part of a century.

It was distilled around two and a half times from floor malted, lightly peated barley, and worm tub cooled in the old way. Ex-Sherry wood suited the heavy make, adding a dried fruit richness. At this age the spirit is vivid and oily, the fruit and salt to the fore. The oily, robust make carries cask flavour while holding its own character. Few distilleries keep so much of the old craft alive under one roof. Campbeltown was once the whisky capital of the world, with more than thirty distilleries at its peak. Today just three distilleries survive in the old Kintyre whisky town.

At a hearty 55.6% it carries real weight. Dried fruit and a walnut richness meets a salty, waxy depth with a whisper of peat. The mouthfeel is oily, the fruit carried on a salty body. The finish is long, waxy and briny. This is the most traditional malt in Scotch.
