This official Longrow single malt, a 23 year old and bottled at 44.9%. Just 192 bottles were filled. Established in 1828, Springbank is one of the last working distilleries of old Campbeltown. Production is tiny by modern standards, a fraction of a large Speyside distillery.

The spirit was floor malted, peated hard and double distilled for Longrow, and run into cast iron worm tubs. A Rum cask shaped it, lending brown sugar and a tropical lift. Past twenty years the spirit turns waxy and profound while keeping its character. Sea air works into the warehouses, lending a saline thread as the whisky breathes. Quality and tradition, not volume, have always been the watchwords here. The spirit is filled to cask and matured within the distillery walls. Few distilleries keep so much of the old craft alive under one roof. Campbeltown was once the whisky capital of the world, with more than thirty distilleries at its peak.

At 44.9% it is supple and briny. A robust peat reek over brine are layered with brown sugar and a rum sweetness. It is deep and complex, the maritime spirit shining through. Sea salt and fruit draw out the close. This is a smoky, maritime Campbeltown single malt.
