Cadenhead's bottled this Rosebank single malt, an 11 year old release, from 1989 and bottled at 57.5%. A release of 318 bottles. Rosebank stood on the banks of the canal in the central Lowlands from 1840 until it was silenced in 1993. Ian Macleod bought the site, the trademark and the last casks from Diageo in 2017.

The spirit was run three times through copper pot stills, then cooled in worm tubs, for the elegant, floral style that crowned it King of the Lowlands. It was matured in refill ex-Bourbon oak, the classic wood for Rosebank. At this age the spirit is bright and floral, the citrus and grass fresh. Triple distillation strips heavy congeners, concentrating light esters such as ethyl hexanoate, giving pear and apple notes. Closed in 1993, the site fell derelict and its copper stills were stolen in 2008. Ian Macleod rescued the distillery, the trademark and the last casks, reopening it in 2023.

At 57.5%, undiluted, it is deep and floral. Marzipan and soft tropical fruit meet soft vanilla and honey from the cask. Beneath it run lemon, grass and a waxy weight. The close is gentle, florals over soft oak. This is a collectable relic of a cult Lowland name.
