An official Old Pulteney single malt, aged 12 year old, and bottled at 43%. Pulteney, founded in 1826 at Wick, on the windswept northeast coast, Inver House has run it as a flagship malt since 1995. Inver House has made it the centrepiece of its single malt range since 1995.

It was run through the unusual stills, the wash still topped flat where the swan neck was cut, before resting in warehouses within sight of the harbour. An American oak cask shaped it, flattering the waxy, honeyed make. Mid age brings a fuller honey and a deeper maritime note. The northern cold draws out a slow, even maturation and a clean, bright spirit. The cool maritime climate is as much a part of the whisky as the cask. Honey, beeswax and sea salt are the threads that run through the range. The distillery has worn the title of the Maritime Malt for good reason. Wick built its fortune on herring and whisky, the silver and the gold of the north.

At 43% it is supple and honeyed. A gentle vanilla and coconut from the wood runs under a salty maritime note. It is rounded and deep, the maritime note woven in. The finish is deep, oily and maritime. This is a far northern malt shaped by sea air.
