Laphroaig 20 Years Old 1996 (SMWS 29.228)

The Scotch Malt Whisky Society began with a shared cask of Glenfarclas and grew into the world's best-known whisky club. This 20 year old Laphroaig, from cask 29.228, was distilled in 1996 and bottled in 2016., part of the Cooking with driftwood series.

Held in ex-Bourbon for twenty years, the oak settles its phenolic, medicinal smoke.

Bottled undiluted at 50.9%, the bourbon oak lends vanilla. Peat, iodine and a maritime salinity hold the palate.
