Description
The Caskhound is a modern independent label. The cask was filled in 2010 and bottled in 2021, a 11 year old Williamson, from cask 917. The Williamson name marks a teaspooned Laphroaig, a cask carrying a token spoonful of another malt that disqualifies the single-malt label. It honours Bessie Williamson, the first woman to own a Scotch distillery, who ran Laphroaig from 1954.
Held in Palo Cortado for eleven years, the cask steeps Laphroaig's tar-and-iodine smoke in dried fruit.
At 52.6%, undiluted, the Palo Cortado brings a dry, nutty, lightly saline note. On the palate, a coal-gas edge, a nutty note, smoke, leather, a cooked-mash note, a husky note.
