Laphroaig 40 Years Old

Distilled in 1960 and bottled in 2001, this 40 year old is among the oldest Laphroaigs ever released, an outturn of 3,300 bottles spanning four decades of coastal maturation.

Forty years in ex-Bourbon, much of it in the seaside warehouses, soften the smoke to a deep, waxy old age.

At 42.4% the peat is a gentle presence, hay, honey, leather, a malt note and citrus over a waxy base. A landmark old bottling.
