Description
The Ian Hunter Story opens here, a five-book series honouring the last Johnston-family owner, who modernised Laphroaig and took sole control in 1928. Book 1 is a 1987 vintage 30 year old, 4,800 bottles.
Three decades in ex-Bourbon, likely much of it in the seaside warehouses, mellow the smoke into a waxy maturity.
At 46.7% the peat is soft and smoky, fresh fruit, citrus, honey and a malt note over an oily, waxy base. The first chapter of the Hunter series.
