Murray McDavid bottled this 1990 Lagavulin for The Syndicate's, a 25 year old single cask from ex-Bourbon cask 4394, an outturn of 243 bottles for Germany. Founded in 1816, Lagavulin sits among the famous trio of southern Islay distilleries.

A famously unhurried distillation gives a heavy, peated body. Matured in a single ex-Bourbon cask, a quarter century softens the smoke into a waxy maturity.

Bottled at 44%. The now-gentle smoke comes from guaiacol and phenols, the ex-Bourbon giving vanilla over a waxy depth. A mature independent Syndicate's Lagavulin.
