The Premium Cask single cask programme at Arran is a more recent format within the distillery's release calendar, providing an outlet for individual casks selected for elevated character at the fifteen to sixteen year cask point. The programme sits alongside the Limited Edition and Distillery Exclusive single cask series within the wider portfolio. Cask 2007/500 from the 2007 vintage was bottled in 2024 for the Belgian market through this programme.
Spirit was distilled at Lochranza in 2007 and matured sixteen years in a single ex Bourbon American oak cask. Bottled in 2024 at the natural cask strength of 53.9% without chill filtration and without added colour, with the 198 bottle outturn reflecting the working yield of the single cask after sixteen years.
Sixteen years of ex Bourbon maturation produces deep cask integration, with the vanillin, cis whisky lactones, toasted sugar fraction and developing oxidative compounds well established against the underlying Arran spirit signature. The 53.9% cask strength bottling preserves the full lipid fraction and the textural depth that long aged Bourbon single casks deliver at unfiltered cask strength.
