Arran 10 Years Old

This 2019 bottling of Arran 10 Years Old is among the first releases under the post 2019 rebrand of the Arran core range. The autumn 2019 packaging refresh aligned the Lochranza single malt visual identity with the new Lagg distillery's peated output, retiring the older 'Pure by Nature' branding and presenting the core whiskies under a more unified design system. The cask composition and bottling format of the 10 Years Old remained unchanged through the rebrand.

Production runs the established Lochranza process: soft Loch na Davie water, around 55 hour fermentation, distillation in tall pot stills with high reflux for clean ester recovery. The 10 Years Old is built from first fill ex Bourbon American oak barrels alongside sherry casks, with batch variation in proportions held within tight limits to preserve consistency. Bottled at 46% without chill filtration and without colouring.

The Bourbon casks deliver vanillin, cis whisky lactones and the coconut driven layer characteristic of new American oak. The sherry portion adds furfural and syringaldehyde from European oak alongside the residual oxidised sherry compounds absorbed during seasoning. At 46% and unfiltered, the lipid fraction remains in solution, giving the characteristic creamy texture. Flavour profile: citric, vanilla, fresh fruit, honey, new wood, chocolate.
