That Boutique-y Whisky Company was founded by Dave Worthington and now operates as part of Atom Brands, presenting Scotch whisky in distinctive 500ml bottles with illustrated comic book style labels rather than traditional graphic design. The Scotch Collection is one of the firm's named ranges. This Glenrothes 25 Years Old, distilled in 1997 and bottled in 2023 at 50%, was vatted from refill bourbon casks across 407 bottles released into European markets.

Twenty five years of refill bourbon ageing produces a profile fundamentally led by distillery character. The cask's first fill activity exhausted under previous tenancy, the wood contributes incrementally rather than dominating, allowing the spirit's natural ester chemistry to lead. The reduction to 50% reflects either natural angel's share evaporation or a small water cut at bottling, with the spirit retaining structural integrity at the lower strength. Vatting multiple casks at similar age smooths individual cask variation while preserving the soft refill bourbon signature.

The nose lifts honeyed barley with vanilla, fresh apple and beeswax, the cask's gentle second life contribution clearly framing rather than dominating the spirit. The palate moves through cooked pear, lemon curd and a clean vanilla pod note, the 50% strength sitting comfortably and delivering distillery character without harshness. The finish is long and softly drying, with the cask's diminished tannin signature giving the spirit's preserved Speyside fruit clear room to express.
