Zwack Unicum Szilva is a Hungarian herbal liqueur built on the classic Unicum base, made from over 40 secret herbs at the Zwack distillery. Szilva means plum or damson in Hungarian, and the name points to its making: the Unicum is matured in oak barrels together with dried plums, which lends a fruity depth that runs alongside the intense herbal character. Bottled at 34.5% in a 700 ml format, it is pleasantly strong yet balanced, a fruit accented variation on the bittersweet herbal style.

The nose carries spicy herbal aromas lifted by the sweetness of ripe plums. The palate is strong, complex and multi layered, with bitter herbs, a subtle sweetness and juicy, fruity plum notes in balance, and the finish is long and bittersweet, with lingering herbal tones and gentle fruitiness. This is primarily a digestif, at its best slightly chilled after a savoury meal, and a good match for hearty meat, game and savoury hard cheeses. In a glass it offers a bittersweet herbal backbone with a plum led fruit sweetness and oak depth for drinks that want more body than a plain herbal liqueur.
