Zuccardi makes this red from Cabernet Franc grown in Paraje Altamira, a high cool site in Argentina’s Uco Valley. Aged in concrete to keep the fruit pure, it shows ripe blueberry, red currant and fresh herbs, with a fine mineral edge and firm, polished tannin.

Description
Zuccardi is a leading producer in Argentina's Uco Valley, and this Poligonos bottling comes from Paraje Altamira, one of the valley's most respected districts, high in the foothills of the Andes. Altitude is the key here: the high, cool site and the wide swing between warm days and cold nights let Cabernet Franc ripen slowly while holding firm acidity and its distinctive fresh, herbal aromatics. The alluvial, stony, calcareous soils give the wine a clear mineral edge. It is aged in concrete rather than oak; concrete is neutral and breathes only slightly, so the tannin softens gently while the pure fruit and the character of the site come through without barrel spice. The colour is a deep violet tinged red. The nose shows ripe blueberry, red currant and raspberry, with fresh herbs, thyme and a stony, mineral note. The palate is medium to full bodied, fresh and precise, with firm but polished tannin and a long, savoury finish. At 14% it stays balanced and energetic. Serve at 16 to 17C. It suits grilled red meat and herb led dishes.
