Zaka

Zaka is a young Trinidad rum that sits in the island's light, column still idiom, built for approachable, everyday drinking. With little stated about its precise production beyond its molasses base, it reflects the clean, soft style typical of Trinidadian rum aimed at newcomers and casual pours.

Matured in ex-bourbon oak, the usual choice for aged molasses rum, and bottled at 42%, it offers simple, friendly notes of oak and vanilla with light caramel and touches of banana, citrus and nut. The palate is fairly dry with a little pepper, and the finish is short, with a faint boozy edge that suggests the modest strength holds it back somewhat. This is an unfussy, easygoing rum, nicely packaged and well suited to relaxed sipping or gifting, rather than one that sets out to reward close attention.
