Z44 Distilled Dry Gin Special Edition

Z44 is the work of Roner in South Tyrol, and its signature begins on the mountain itself: Swiss stone pine cones gathered by hand on the slopes of the Weisshorn through the summer, then worked in a small still to draw out the resinous essence that defines the gin. This Special Edition adds an extract of erica, the heather whose pink flowers light up the Alpine spring, deepening an already distinctive Alpine character.

The nose is intense and resinous, spiced with stone pine and heather blossom. The palate is fresh and cooling, a menthol lift over Mediterranean herbs and flowers, juniper and lime, with hints of yarrow, gentian and violet root threading beneath the pine at 45.5%. The finish is long and clean. Serve it simply over ice with a light tonic, letting the mountain botanicals speak.
