Description
Yoichi Single Malt Manzanilla Wood Finish is a no age statement, cask strength expression from Nikka's Yoichi distillery on the Sea of Japan coast of Hokkaido, owned by Asahi. Released in 2018 for the Netherlands market, it layers a Manzanilla sherry cask finish over Ex-Bourbon matured spirit, making it one of the more distinctive finishes in the Yoichi wood finish series.
Manzanilla, the driest and most sea-influenced of the Spanish sherries, adds a nutty, saline and lightly sherried character that sits naturally alongside Yoichi's coastal maritime profile. The result combines coal-gas depth and vanilla from the bourbon oak base with the chamomile and almond notes typical of Manzanilla wood, producing a single malt that is both firmly structured and intricately flavoured at 48%.
