Yoichi 25 Years Old 1988 Cask 100215 (LMDW) is a single cask single malt from Nikka's Yoichi distillery in Hokkaido, distilled in 1988 and bottled in 2013 by La Maison du Whisky for the event market. At 25 years, it is one of the oldest single cask Yoichi expressions in the LMDW portfolio, and the choice of a virgin oak butt as the sole maturation vessel gives this bottling a character sharply different from the Ex-Bourbon or sherry releases of the same era.

A virgin oak butt over 25 years in Hokkaido's maritime climate extracts tannin, coconut, vanilla and a pronounced resinous spice with considerable force, building layers of toasted wood over the Yoichi house character of coal-fired smoke and oily malt. At 62%, the spirit is intense and wood-driven, with the brine and peat of the distillery still present beneath the density of a quarter century of new oak contact.
