Description
Yoichi 20 Years Old (LMDW) is a single malt from Nikka's Yoichi distillery in Hokkaido, selected by La Maison du Whisky and bottled in 2012 for the event market. The bottling draws on bourbon barrels, new oak casks and sherry barrels over 20 years, a broad multi-cask selection that layers additional complexity onto the Yoichi house character at a mature age.
Chocolate and malt extract from the long maturation meet citrus brightness and honey sweetness, while the sherry component adds dried fruit depth and the new oak contributes a firm, resinous backbone. Fresh fruit and leather round out a profile anchored by Yoichi's characteristic coastal weight and the subtle smokiness that coal-fired direct distillation imparts to every spirit that leaves the Hokkaido distillery. Bottled at cask strength 52%.
