Description
Yoichi 10 Years Old is a single malt from Nikka's Yoichi distillery, sited on the Sea of Japan coast of Hokkaido and founded by Masataka Taketsuru in 1934. The distillery is one of the last in Japan to use coal-fired direct distillation, a method that produces a heavier, oilier spirit with a faint natural smokiness, and its cool, maritime climate shapes the spirit through a full decade of maturation.
Mature Ex-Bourbon casks lend vanilla and baked fruit to the distillery's characteristic peat smoke and firm malt, while the coastal weight of Hokkaido adds a whisper of brine. The 2022 release delivers the citrus, cooked mash, leather and smoky malt extract notes typical of the age statement, bottled at 45% and available across global markets.
