Description
Yamazaki Limited Edition 2023 is a no age statement single malt from Suntory's distillery in the valley of Shimamoto, Osaka Prefecture, where three rivers meet and soft humidity slows the maturing spirit. Among the distillery's annual editions, this release is built around mizunara, the Japanese oak central to the house signature.
Maturation in mizunara oak gives the wood's sandalwood and incense character, here lifted by a bright citric edge over the distillery's orchard fruit and vanilla. The Japanese oak brings its temple wood fragrance while the citrus keeps the whisky fresh and lively, the two pulling against each other in balance. Bottled at 43%, it is aromatic and clean, a yearly expression that pairs the distillery's signature wood with a crisp, fruit forward profile and a long, perfumed close.
