Yamazaki Limited Edition 2022 is a no age statement single malt from Suntory's distillery in Shimamoto, Osaka Prefecture, in the river valley where humid air aids the long marriage of casks. One of the distillery's annual editions, this release leans on mizunara, the Japanese oak that gives the house its most distinctive note.
Matured in mizunara oak, it carries the signature sandalwood and incense of the wood over the distillery's fresh orchard fruit and gentle vanilla, with a soft, fragrant spice running through. The porous Japanese oak lends an aromatic lift that marks it apart from the American oak editions, the fruit staying bright beneath the perfume. Bottled at 43%, it is rounded and perfumed, a yearly portrait of the distillery framed by its signature wood and the temple wood character that grows with time.
