Yamazaki Golden Promise is a no age statement single malt from Suntory's distillery in the valley of Shimamoto, Osaka Prefecture, where three rivers meet under a soft, humid sky. Released in 2024, the name nods to a classic barley variety, and it belongs to the distillery's run of focused, single influence bottlings from Japan's oldest whisky house.
Matured in ex-bourbon casks, it shows the distillery's sweeter, brighter side, with a malty barley note joining vanilla, soft coconut and ripe orchard fruit. American oak alone keeps the spirit clear and unclouded by sherry or wine, so the cereal sweetness reads plainly. Bottled at cask strength 48%, it carries extra concentration and grip while staying true to the rounded, fruit led house character, the barley character lingering through a long, gently spiced finish.
