Description
Yamazaki 18 Years Old is a senior single malt from Suntory's Yamazaki distillery in Osaka Prefecture, Japan's first malt distillery, founded in 1923 in the valley of Shimamoto where three rivers meet and soft humidity aids long maturation. This global release at 43% sits among the most decorated expressions in the Japanese single malt canon, the older sibling to the benchmark 12.
Its character is built across Oloroso sherry, Ex-Bourbon and Japanese mizunara oak. The sherry drives dried fruit and chocolate, the bourbon wood lends vanilla and honey, and the mizunara adds the signature sandalwood and incense that grows with long ageing. The listed citric lift and old wood tones thread through the distillery's orchard fruit, giving a deep, layered malt with real complexity. Eighteen years in this cask mix lend weight and resin, and the result shows the full reach of the Yamazaki house style.
