Description
Distilled by Suntory at its Osaka Prefecture distillery, Japan's oldest malt site in the Shimamoto valley where three rivers meet, this 2009 Yamazaki was bottled in 2021 at 11 Years Old for a global audience in a 500ml format. It shows the lighter, American oak side of the house at full strength.
Maturation took place in American oak, typically the wood that lets the distillery's orchard character lead. At 53% it is bright and rounded, with vanilla and sweet coconut, ripe pear and a soft malty base, finishing on gentle oak and light spice. Clean and fruit forward for a cask strength malt, it reflects the American oak house style that made Yamazaki's lighter, orchard led expressions so recognisable around the world.
