Fresh and fruity on the nose, then a floral, citrus-laced palate with juniper and a soft woody warmth from oak. Distilled over wood fires in Mahon from a wine-spirit base, then briefly rested in American oak, the way it has been made on Menorca since the 1700s. A relic of the British navy, still pouring.

Description
Xoriguer comes from Mahon on Menorca, where it has been made since the 18th century, originally for British sailors stationed on the island. The method is singular: a wine-spirit base is redistilled in wood-fired copper pot stills, then rested briefly in American oak. The botanical recipe remains a closely guarded family secret, the bottle marked with the old windmill from which the gin takes its name.
The nose is fresh and fruity. The palate turns slightly floral and spicy, with citrus and juniper carried on a faint woody warmth from the cask. The finish is long. Its gentle oak makes it a fine base for a herbaceous gin and tonic, or for the island's own pomada with cloudy lemonade and a wedge of lemon.
