Wu Dram Clan T.D.L Rum 2003

Wu Dram Clan is a respected German bottler, and this single cask goes to Trinidad Distillers Limited, the column still house behind Angostura, for a 2003 vintage matured 22 years. Drawn from a single ex-bourbon cask, it shows the smoother, more mature face of Trinidad rum in the island's soft, Spanish-leaning idiom.

Distilled clean on the column still from Trinidadian molasses and tropically aged in ex-bourbon oak, it lands dry and well rounded. The aroma carries caramel, vanilla, peach and wood, the palate keeps the peach and caramel alongside coffee and a minty lift, and the finish turns woody and dry with black tea and menthol. The fruit-bread, raisin and herbal-tea notes give it real depth, while the 55.2% stays gentle and integrated. This is a polished, easy-drinking older Trinidad rum, balanced and rewarding for drinkers stepping into the island's mature single casks.
