Worthy Park S.B.S (Bourbon and Moscatel Cask) Exclusively Bottled For France WPL 2015

Worthy Park is the precise single estate of St. Catherine, and 1423's Single Barrel Selection is among the most detail focused and transparent of the independent labels. This WPL marque from 2015, one of the distillery's lighter recipes, reaches nine years and is finished in a Moscatel wine cask, then bottled at cask strength.

Distilled from molasses on the pot still, the rum balances pineapple, banana and molasses with a noticeably dry edge, while the Moscatel finish layers in floral fruit and soft honey. The aroma is woody and roasted with pineapple and ester, the palate turns woody and nutty with vanilla and pineapple, and the finish keeps tropical fruit, banana and pineapple. The esters are discreet rather than wild, in keeping with the WPL mark, so this reads as a solid, straightforward Worthy Park with a wine kissed twist, more accessible than many S.B.S bottlings and well suited to neat pours.
