A 13 year old single cask Worthy Park bottled under the 1423 S.B.S label, the WPL light mark giving fresh fruit, vanilla and a touch of glue over woody oak, full strength and unsweetened at 57% in the transparent house style.
Description
This S.B.S single cask comes from 1423, the Danish bottler whose Single Barrel Selection is prized for transparency, cask strength and no additives. The source is Worthy Park, the clean and precise St. Catherine estate, here on the WPL mark, the lighter end of its range, so the funk stays restrained and the fruit polished across thirteen years of ageing.
Matured in ex-bourbon wood and bottled at 57% with no added sugar, it opens with vanilla, woody depth, an overripe note and freshness, the palate turns woody and vanilla-led with a thread of glue and banana, and the finish stays fruity and fresh with oak and a lift of ester. The extra age and full strength give it a nice punch from the pour, settling into a fresh, fruity Jamaican with firm wood and gentle spice. This is a clean, well-built Worthy Park for drinkers who want the estate's precise fruit at proper proof, the WPL mark keeping the ester in check while the oak adds structure.
