Description
Bottled by Spirit of Rum for the Rumclub Private Selection, this is a single cask Worthy Park distilled in 2021 and aged three years, finished in a Pedro Ximenez sherry cask. Worthy Park is the clean, precise pot still house, moderate in ester, and the PX cask layers dark sweetness over its fruity distillate.
Distilled from molasses on a Forsyths pot still and finished in PX wood, it shows ester, red fruit and raisin on the nose, then ester, tropical fruit and an alcoholic kick on the palate, finishing woody with red fruit and ester. The PX adds raisin, date and caramel richness that wraps around Worthy Park's funk in a love-hate push and pull. Bottled at 59.8% with sweetness undeclared, it is intense and characterful, best read as a richly sherried, fruit-driven rum. For experienced drinkers it offers big funk, sherry depth and surprising complexity at a fair price.
