Description
Berry Bros & Rudd has traded from No. 3 St James's Street in London since 1698, Britain's oldest wine and spirits merchant. This 11 year old Williamson, from cask 216, came off the stills in 2013 and was bottled in 2024., from the A Single Cask Collection: Coasts & Shores range. Sold as Williamson because it is teaspooned, a drop of another malt added to a Laphroaig cask so the distillery name cannot be used, the label reads blended malt. Williamson recalls Bessie Williamson, who took over Laphroaig in 1954.
Eleven years in Oloroso draw the cask's fruit into peat heavy with tar and brine.
Bottled undiluted at 58.9%, the Oloroso lends a raisined, figgy depth. Expect a coal-gas edge, a hay-like note, a rubbery note, a sherried character, smoke, a fragrant note.
