Description
Wieser Marille Apricot Liqueur comes from the Wachau, the valley along the Danube between Melk and Krems that has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000 and is known for its wine and fruit growing. Alongside its stone terraces, the Wachau is defined by apricot orchards, and Wieser makes its products there in the traditional homemade way. This liqueur captures the local apricot in a soft, sweet fruit style, bottled at a gentle 20% ABV.
The nose is fruity with apricot, the palate fruity and sweet with fresh apricots, and the finish long. In the traditional macerated fruit style, the neutral base lets the ripe apricot character lead, supported by light notes of vanilla and honey. Behind the bar it brings sweetness, stone fruit body and a soft golden colour, which makes it a ready base for an apricot spritz with sparkling wine, a fruit accent in a whisky or brandy sour, or a sweetener in fruity long drinks. It also works with desserts. Serve it chilled to lift the apricot, or over ice in a longer build.
