Description
White Oak Akashi x Hanahato is a single malt from Eigashima Shuzo, distilled at the Hyogo distillery and released in 2018 at 4 Years Old. Bottled at cask strength 61% in a 500ml format for the Japan domestic market, it is a collaborative expression linking the Akashi single malt with Hanahato, a name associated with Enoki Shuzo's sake and related products from Hiroshima.
Matured in Ex-Bourbon cask for four years, the spirit shows the citric brightness and fresh fruit character typical of young Eigashima malt, alongside malt extract and new wood. The cask strength bottling at 61% brings out chocolate and honey notes as well, giving the expression a weight and richness that belies its youth. It is a transparent demonstration of what the Akashi distillate can achieve at a young age under strong cask influence.
