Weinhof Szemes is an Austrian family winery, and Suzy Wong is its easygoing frizzante, a semi-sparkling wine made for relaxed, everyday drinking. The style is tank-fresh and primary, keeping the emphasis on bright orchard and citrus fruit and a soft, approachable bead rather than the fuller fizz of a traditional-method sparkling wine. Made from local white fruit and lightly carbonated, it is built for immediate enjoyment while young rather than for the cellar.
The colour is a light straw yellow with a fine, soft bead. The nose shows green apple, citrus and pear with a soft floral note. The palate is crisp and fruity, with fresh acidity and a gentle effervescence carrying through to a clean, easy finish. Serve well chilled at 6 to 8 degrees in a flute or tulip glass.
