The Eymann estate has farmed the upper Rhine terraces of the Palatinate since 1961 and was an organic pioneer there. This dry regional Riesling is clean and citrus led, with lemon, green apple and white peach over a mineral, saline finish.
Description
Weingut Eymann was founded by Werner Eymann in 1961 in the Palatinate, in Germany's southwest, and was one of the region's early converts to organic and later biodynamic farming. The estate works vineyards on the upper terraces above the Rhine, where free-draining soils and warm days give ripe Riesling fruit while cool nights hold the acidity that defines the grape. This is a dry, or trocken, Pfälzer Riesling made as an approachable regional bottling. It is vinified to preserve freshness and purity of fruit, with the aim of showing the grape's citrus and mineral character directly rather than any winemaking signature. The wine is pale with a green tint. The nose is clean and bright, with lemon, green apple and white peach lifted by citrus peel and white flowers. The palate is dry and crisp, with juicy acidity and a saline, stony finish that keeps it lively and moreish. Serve well chilled at 8 to 10 degrees. It is an easy match for grilled and fried fish and raw shellfish, and its acidity and gentle weight make it a reliable choice for spiced and Asian food.
