A young, cask-strength Worthy Park carrying the high-ester WPE mark, bottled by Warehouse #1 as a Belgian-market release, all flambeed banana, dried fruit and dessert-like ester at a hot 65.5%, unsweetened and intense.
Description
Warehouse #1, a Belgian bottler, selected this single cask Worthy Park for the Belgian market under its Legendary Marques line. The WPE mark is the distillery's extra-ester recipe, the fullest end of a house that is otherwise known for clean, precise pot still rum, so this pushes the fruit harder than a typical Worthy Park while keeping its polish.
At around two and a half years it is youthful and fierce, matured in ex-bourbon wood and bottled at cask strength 65.5% with no added sugar. The nose is dense with banana, dried fruit and ester over warming alcohol, the palate doubles down on banana and ester with real heat, and the finish carries banana, dried fruit, ester and a caramelised edge. Tasters describe it as a dessert in a glass, flambeed banana and caramelised fruit driven by the WPE esters. This is one for drinkers who want big Worthy Park fruit at full proof and do not mind youthful power, best with water and patience.
