A two year old Long Pond TECA bottled by Warehouse #1 at a raw 64.4%, a young high ester funk bomb of overripe tropical fruit and glue with vanilla, caramel and young oak, wild and unsweetened, great neat or in intense cocktails.
Description
Warehouse #1 bottled this Long Pond TECA as a single cask at a fierce 64.4%, unsweetened and just two years old. TECA is one of Long Pond's highest ester marques, sitting near the Jamaican ceiling, and even at this young age in a virgin oak ageing programme it delivers an enormous hit of funk, aimed at drinkers who want their esters loud and raw.
Molasses fermentation and double retort pot distillation produce the gluey, ester saturated nose, overripe tropical fruit and solvent piled high. The palate stays in that wild register with young wood, vanilla and an oily texture, and the finish brings fruit, spice and a touch of sweetness from the cask. Two years is barely any time in oak, so this is about youthful intensity rather than mellow depth, a tropical fruit and glue bomb that powers neat or through a bold cocktail.
