An unaged overproof Long Pond carrying the funky Trelawny character, all peppery ester, solvent and fermented fruit on the nose turning sweet, herbal and oily in the mouth, raw and unsweetened at a fierce 63%.
Description
Long Pond is the historic Wedderburn house of Trelawny, a funky, fruit-forward distillery whose pot still rum can turn rubbery, briny and intensely estery at the top of its range. This Trelawny Treasure Too is an unaged, white overproof bottling from Warehouse #1, presenting the distillery's raw spirit with no wood to soften it, at a fierce 63%.
Without ageing, the funk is front and centre: the nose is peppery, estery, solvent-driven and intense, the palate turns sweet, herbal, vegetal and fermented, and the finish stays sweet and oily with fruit and orange. Some tasters also catch strawberry and berry notes beneath the funk, with a fresh, lightly spicy palate once it settles. This is unaged Jamaican pot still in its most unvarnished form, a high-octane white built for the funk-hungry and for cocktails that need a loud, estery backbone. Unsweetened and uncompromising, it rewards drinkers who already love the green, fermented edge of new-make Trelawny rum.
