Wakatsuru Saburomaru Saburomaru Junenmyo Rouge

Saburomaru Junenmyo Rouge is a named variant within the Junenmyo blend series from Wakatsuru Shuzo in Toyama prefecture, selected here for the Swedish market and bottled in 2021 at 46%. The Rouge designation differentiates it from the Noir expression within the same line. Both are no age statement blends, with the market-specific bottling reflecting the distillery's growing export programme from its Toyama base.

Maturation in Ex-Bourbon casks provides vanilla and a light caramel note, and Saburomaru's peated production tradition contributes background smoke as is typical of this house. The full cask or component makeup is not disclosed beyond the Ex-Bourbon maturation, so the Rouge is best understood as a characteristically peated, oak-influenced expression from Wakatsuru's range. At 46% it is moderate in strength and representative of what the Junenmyo series offers across its different market editions.
