Wakatsuru Kyoto Bartender’s Batch 2022

Wakatsuru Kyoto Bartender's Batch 2022 is a no age statement blended malt from Saburomaru distillery in Toyama prefecture, created in collaboration with Kyoto bartenders and bottled at cask strength 49% for the Japanese domestic market. The series celebrates the craft cocktail culture of Kyoto and represents a different editorial perspective on the Saburomaru range: a blended malt rather than one of the distillery's single-vintage single malts.

The maturation draws on both Ex-Bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks, a combination that brings vanilla and light caramel from the bourbon wood alongside the dried fruit, dark spice and richness typical of Oloroso influence. Saburomaru's heavily peated house character, rooted in its ZEMON cast metal still and Toyama production tradition, sits beneath the cask-driven fruit and spice. Bottled at 49%, this is a cask strength expression that balances the distillery's smoke-forward identity with the warmth and sweetness of the sherry component.
