Volcán De Mi Tierra Tequila XA Extra Aged

Volcán De Mi Tierra XA Extra Aged is a 100% Blue Weber tequila from NOM 1523, Agrotequilera de Jalisco at Huaxtla, the single distillery LVMH and the Gallardo family run solely for this brand. Its identity is blending, both of highland and lowland agave and of three separately matured spirits, an approach the house likens to cognac assembly.
The blend marries a reposado rested six months in American oak, a fourteen-month añejo split between European and American oak, and an extra añejo aged three years in American oak. Because the youngest component dictates the legal age, XA is technically a reposado despite its name. The producer states it carries no additives. The result is cooked agave layered with vanilla, caramel and dried fruit and a touch of spice, the palate creamy and rounded. A polished, oak-shaped tequila that still keeps an agave thread running through it.
