Raimat makes this young red in D.O. Costers del Segre, in inland Catalonia, blending Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Tempranillo from certified sustainable vineyards. Unoaked and fruit-forward, it offers red berry, cherry and a touch of pepper.
Description
Vol d'Ànima de Raimat Negre Eco is a young red from the Raimat estate in D.O. Costers del Segre, in the dry interior of Catalonia. It blends Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Tempranillo grown under certified sustainable viticulture. The setting is a continental climate with a Mediterranean influence, marked by very dry summers through the ripening season and large day-to-night temperature contrasts, the kind of diurnal swing that ripens the fruit fully while preserving aromatic freshness. This is made as an early-drinking wine, without barrel ageing, so the emphasis stays on primary fruit and a supple, approachable texture rather than oak. The three varieties cover the spread, Tempranillo for red fruit and structure, Cabernet for backbone and Syrah for pepper and dark berry. The colour is bright cherry red. The nose leads with red berry, ripe cherry and plum, with a light peppery and herbal edge, and the palate is medium bodied and juicy, with soft tannins, fresh acidity and a clean, fruity finish. Serve at fifteen to sixteen degrees, lightly chilled if you like. Good with roast chicken, grilled pork and tomato-based pasta.
