Description
Vitícola Mentridana works in D.O. Méntrida, in the northeast of Toledo province where the vineyards climb toward the granite foothills of the Sierra de Gredos. This is a high, continental site with warm days and cool nights, and the altitude preserves acidity in the naturally low-acid Garnacha Blanca. Fermentation and ageing take place in concrete rather than oak, an inert vessel that holds a steady temperature and lets the wine settle on its fine lees without adding wood flavour or oxygen. The result keeps its primary fruit and a rounded texture from that lees contact. The colour is pale straw with a green tint. The nose is citrus led, lemon and lime over white peach and a hint of white flowers, and the palate is light bodied and dry at 11.5 percent, finishing crisp with a saline, stony bite that reflects the granitic soil. Farming here is sustainable, with minimal intervention in the cellar. Serve well chilled, around 8 to 10 degrees, in a standard white glass.
