Description
Viñas de Anna Rosado comes from Codorníu, one of the great names of Catalan wine, a house whose winegrowing roots reach back to the sixteenth century and which founded its cava cellar at Sant Sadurní d'Anoia in 1872. This still rosé draws fruit from across D.O. Catalunya and is led by Pinot Noir, with Garnacha filling out the blend. Pinot Noir gives a rosé its pale colour and delicate red fruit, and the Catalan vineyards, cooled by altitude and Mediterranean influence, help the grape keep its freshness and perfume in a warm region. The fruit is pressed gently to take only the lightest juice, then fermented cool in stainless steel to protect the aromatics and hold a dry, crisp finish. The colour is a pale, pretty pink. The nose offers wild strawberry, cherry and white peach lifted by rose and white flowers, while the palate is light, dry and fresh, with soft red fruit and a clean citrus close. Serve well chilled at around 8 degrees in a white wine glass. It is an easy aperitif and suits salads, white fish and lighter poultry.
