Viñas de Anna Chardonnay 2025

Viñas de Anna Chardonnay comes from the wide DO Catalunya and is made by Codorníu, one of Spain's leading wineries and a house rooted in the Penedès since the 19th century. It blends Chardonnay, which gives the wine its stone fruit core and body, with a smaller share of Gewürztraminer that lifts the aromatics with floral and lightly spiced perfume. The Catalan vineyards enjoy a Mediterranean climate tempered by breezes off the sea and by cooler inland sites, a balance that ripens the fruit while holding enough acidity to keep the wine fresh. This is a young, unoaked style made for early drinking, so it leads with primary fruit and aromatic charm rather than barrel character. Expect a pale colour with green tints, a nose of white peach and pear with a rose and white-flower lift from the Gewürztraminer, and a dry, medium-bodied palate with clean acidity and a smooth, floral finish. The aromatic blend gives it more perfume than a straight Chardonnay. Serve at 9 to 11 degrees.
