Viña Zorzal Garnacha 2025

Proyecto Zorzal is based in the D.O. Navarra and built its reputation on honest, well priced reds that punch above their cost. This Garnacha comes from organically farmed vineyards in a region where the variety is native and long established. Navarra sits where the Atlantic and Mediterranean climates meet, with cooler nights at altitude that help Garnacha keep its freshness and aromatic red fruit rather than tipping into jammy ripeness. The grapes are grown without synthetic chemicals and the wine is made in a young, unoaked style, with fermentation and ageing in tank to keep the fruit clean and direct. With no time in barrel, there is no vanilla or toast to get in the way, only the grape and the place. The colour is a vivid, glossy red. The nose is full of strawberry and cherry, with a backdrop of wild herbs. The palate is fresh, light to medium bodied and juicy, with soft tannins and a clean, bright finish. Serve at 14 to 16 degrees, with a light chill if you wish. It suits grilled pork, roast chicken and tomato based dishes.
